My real education began in Mr. Greg Nelson’s high school physics class. Since then I pursued a formal education in applied sciences, specifically electrical engineering. Most of the important lessons, though, were taught at the school of hard knocks.
In any case, along the way I picked up Chinese and Japanese. I’ll translate almost anything, even if it’s boring. However, my niche is technical material – most other people who are qualified to translate material from engineering and the sciences are not interested in such work.
I have translated academic papers from engineering journals, part descriptions from catalogs and the operator’s manual for a coal fired generation plant. But I’ve also done marketing material, comic books, and half of an economics book.
